VirtuApp (Android) - Version 10.11

Android Release Notes

Build Version: 10.11
Release Date: 17 july 2026
Platform: Android
Release Type: Feature Enhancement

Overview

This release introduces Page Modes in VirtuApp, allowing a page to behave differently based on the selected mode. A page can now be configured to function as a standard layout page, a FlipBook page, or a Script page directly from the VirtuBox Console.

This enhancement provides greater flexibility by allowing the same page infrastructure to support multiple viewing experiences without changing the application flow.

New Features

Page Mode

A new Page Mode option has been added to the Page Settings in the VirtuBox Console.

The available page modes are:

  • Layout
  • FlipBook
  • Script

This option is available under:

Page Settings

Page Mode Behaviour

Layout Mode

This is the default behaviour.

When Layout is selected:

  • The page behaves as a normal VirtuApp page.
  • All layouts added to the page are rendered.
  • Existing page rendering behaviour remains unchanged.

FlipBook Mode

When FlipBook is selected:

  • The application searches for the first FlipBook layout available on the page.
  • The page opens directly in FlipBookActivity.
  • The FlipBook document is displayed immediately.
  • Other layouts on the page are ignored.

Note: The page should contain at least one FlipBook layout.

Script Mode

When Script is selected:

  • The application searches for the first Script layout available on the page.
  • The page opens directly in ScriptActivity.
  • Other layouts on the page are ignored.

Note: The page should contain at least one Script layout.

How to Use

  1. Open the VirtuBox Console.

  2. Navigate to the required page.

  3. Open Page Settings.

  4. Locate the new Page Mode dropdown.

  5. Select one of the following:

    • Layout
    • FlipBook
    • Script
  6. Save the page.

  7. Sync or publish the project.

  8. Open the page in VirtuApp.

The page will automatically behave according to the selected Page Mode.

Developer Notes

Page Mode Parsing

The page mode is now read using the mode property instead of page_mode.

Previous

String pageMode = JSONMapUtils.getString(map, "page_mode");

Current

String pageMode = JSONMapUtils.getString(map, "mode");

Location:

io.virtubox.app.model.db.DBPageModel

Method:

getPageMode()

Intent Routing

Page mode routing is centralized inside:

io.virtubox.app.ui.utils.IntentUtils

Primary method:

launchPageModeActivity(...)

This method determines which activity should be launched based on the selected page mode.

Current supported page modes include:

  • Layout
  • FlipBook
  • Script

Extending Page Modes

To add support for a new page mode in the future:

  1. Add the new value to the PageMode enum.
  2. Create a dedicated launch method for the new page mode.
  3. Register the new page mode inside launchPageModeActivity(...).

This centralized approach ensures that all page mode navigation is handled from a single location, making future enhancements easier to maintain.
